Lush, vibrant, and unmistakably tropical, Variegated Shell Ginger is loved for its striking green leaves boldly striped with creamy yellow variegation. The upright, architectural growth creates instant garden presence, making it perfect for feature pots, tropical borders, poolside planting, or adding height and texture to shaded outdoor spaces.

Exceptionally well suited to warm climates like FNQ, this hardy tropical performer thrives in heat and humidity and quickly forms a full, leafy clump when established. It’s grown primarily for its dramatic foliage, though mature plants may also produce decorative shell-like flower sprays in ideal conditions.

🪴 Planting tip: Prefers full sun to part shade and rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and mulch to retain moisture. Protect from strong drying winds for best foliage presentation.
🌸 Flowering: Mature plants may produce hanging clusters of shell-shaped blooms, though foliage is the main feature.
📏 Mature size: Typically 1.5–2.5 m tall when planted in the ground, forming clumps over time.
