Bold, sculptural, and beautifully tropical — Strelitzia nicolai is a true statement plant with its huge banana-like leaves and elegant upright growth. Known as the Giant White Bird of Paradise, this plant brings instant resort vibes to any home or garden, creating height, drama, and lush movement with every breeze. Its deep green leaves fan out beautifully, making it perfect for styling patios, pool areas, and bright indoor spaces.
Hardy, fast-growing, and incredibly reliable, Strelitzia nicolai loves FNQ’s warm climate and thrives with very little fuss. As it matures, it can form a stunning clumping feature plant, transforming any space into a tropical oasis.
🪴 Planting tip: Enjoys full sun to bright filtered light and well-drained soil. Water regularly during warm months and feed occasionally to support thick, upright growth.
🌸 Flowering: Striking white and blue bird-like flowers on mature plants — mainly grown for its bold foliage.
📏 Mature size: 2–4 m tall in gardens; smaller in pots depending on care.
