These seedlings take off fast in FNQ warmth, producing big, juicy red-fleshed melons bursting with flavour. Whether you’re slicing them for summer picnics, fruit platters, smoothies, or kids’ snacks, nothing beats homegrown watermelon picked fresh from the garden.
Watermelon vines love to stretch out and soak up the sun, rewarding you with strong growth and heavy fruiting when planted in rich soil and watered consistently. Perfect for veggie patches, raised beds, and roomy garden spaces.
🪴 Planting tip: Plant in full sun with rich, well-drained soil. Give vines plenty of space to run and deep water during hot spells for the sweetest fruit.
🌸 Flowering: Yellow flowers appear before setting round green melons with bright red flesh.
📏 Mature size: Vines can reach 1.5–3 m depending on space and conditions.
